Cuttack was the capital of Odisha until 1948 when Bhubaneswar became the new capital. Cuttack is located approximately 25-30 km from Bhubaneswar and remains an important commercial and cultural center. The two cities are part of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack metropolitan area.
