Polonnaruwa, an ancient capital of Sri Lanka, is nicknamed "Monkey City" due to its large population of toque macaques that inhabit the ruins and surrounding areas. The city's archaeological sites provide an ideal habitat for these primates. The other cities, while historically significant, are not known for this particular monkey population.
