The Nehru Trophy is a famous boat race held annually in Kerala, specifically the snake boat race at Alappuzha (Alleppey). It was instituted in 1952 to commemorate the visit of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to the state. The event is one of the biggest team sporting events in India with over 100 boats participating.
