Claustrophobia is the fear of confined spaces, such as elevators, small rooms, or crowded areas. The term comes from Latin claustrum (confined space) and Greek phobia (fear). It's one of the most common specific phobias. Cleithrophobia is fear of being locked in, and the fear of stealing is kleptophobia.
