The Trans-Canada Highway is the longest national highway system in the world, spanning approximately 7,821 km (4,860 miles) from St. John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. It opened in 1971 and connects all ten provinces. Japan, India, and Argentina have major highway networks, but none approach the Trans-Canada's length.
