He participated in Asian Idol representing India and though being placed third in the competition, he received great appreciation from the judges for introducing them and all the international viewers with such great Indian Music.

Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of the first Indian Idol season, represented India in Asian Idol held in Indonesia in 2007. Although he placed third in the competition, the judges praised him for introducing Indian music to international audiences. The competition featured winners from various Asian countries singing in both English and their native languages.
