Denzel Washington won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Detective Alonzo Harris in 'Training Day' (2001), playing a corrupt LAPD narcotics officer. This was his second Oscar (first for 'Glory'). Ben Kingsley won for 'Gandhi' and F. Murray Abraham for 'Amadeus'.
