While Dmitri Mendeleev is most commonly credited, both he and Lothar Meyer independently developed similar periodic table concepts around 1869-1870. Mendeleev's version was more predictive as he left gaps for undiscovered elements and even predicted their properties accurately. Both scientists arrived at the periodic arrangement simultaneously.
