Greyhounds are the fastest dog breed, capable of reaching speeds up to 45 mph (72 km/h). They were originally bred for hunting and racing. Whippets (not 'wippet') are smaller relatives, also fast but not the fastest. Labrador Retrievers are not known for speed. African Wild Dogs are fast but not domesticated breeds.
