The brakes in a F1 car are made of ?

Formula 1 cars use carbon-carbon composite brakes because they can withstand extreme temperatures (over 1000°C) and provide superior stopping power compared to traditional materials. Carbon fibre brakes offer exceptional heat resistance and thermal stability, which is crucial when braking from speeds over 350 km/h. Iron and steel would be too heavy and could not handle the thermal stress, while platinum is prohibitively expensive and not suitable for this application.
