The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is the holiest gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism. It is located in Amritsar, Punjab, and was built in the 16th century by Guru Arjan Dev. Its golden façade gives it the popular name.
