Igor Sikorsky was a Russian-American aviation pioneer who designed and flew the world's first multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft (the Russky Vityaz in 1913). He later developed flying boats for Pan American Airways in the 1930s and is credited with creating the first successful practical helicopter in the United States, founding Sikorsky Aircraft.
