Frogs are amphibians, a class of cold-blooded vertebrates that typically live on land but breed in water. They undergo metamorphosis from aquatic larvae (tadpoles) to terrestrial adults. Amphibians also include salamanders and caecilians. Frogs are not reptiles (which have scales) or mammals (which have hair and mammary glands).
