Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system and orbits Jupiter. It was discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610 along with three other Jovian moons. Ganymede is even larger than the planet Mercury and is the only moon known to have its own magnetic field, suggesting a subsurface ocean beneath its icy surface.
