Both Norway and Iceland are known as Lands of the Midnight Sun because, being located within the Arctic Circle, they experience periods where the sun remains visible for 24 hours a day during summer months. Norway is more traditionally and famously associated with this nickname, but Iceland also qualifies geographically for the same phenomenon. France does not experience the midnight sun.
