The Last Emperor (1987) is the biographical film about Pu Yi, the last Emperor of China who ruled from the Forbidden City as a child. Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, it chronicles his journey from absolute monarchy to becoming a gardener in the People's Republic. The film won nine Academy Awards including Best Picture.
