Arjuna was the son of Kunti and Indra, the king of gods. Kunti had invoked Indra through a mantra to beget Arjuna. Indra is explicitly mentioned as Arjuna's divine father in the epic, and he gifted Arjuna several divine weapons including the Gandiva bow. Varuna is the god of water, Kubera is the god of wealth, and Yaksha refers to a class of nature spirits.
