A landlocked sea is a body of water entirely enclosed by land with no direct connection to the ocean. The Aral Sea (between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan) is the most famous example, though it has severely shrunk due to water diversion. The Timor Sea, Arafura Sea, and North China Sea are all connected to oceans.
