ABN AMRO was a Dutch bank headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The name ABN comes from Algemene Bank Nederland (General Bank of the Netherlands), and AMRO from Amsterdamsche-Rotterdamsche Bank. It was one of the largest banks in the Netherlands before its acquisition and restructuring.
