According to Hindu mythology, Parshurama severed one tusk of Lord Ganesha. The story goes that Parshurama, an avatar of Vishnu, visited Shiva and met Ganesha who guarded the entrance. When Ganesha refused entry, Parshurama threw his axe at him, and Ganesha respectfully took the blow on his tusk, breaking it off.
