Nerves are responsible for transmitting signals that initiate and coordinate all voluntary and involuntary muscle movements in the body. While some organs like the heart have intrinsic pacemakers, their movement is still heavily regulated and controlled by the nervous system. Without nerve signals, skeletal muscles cannot contract to produce movement.
