Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair) held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It originated on October 12, 1810, as a celebration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The festival runs for 16-18 days from mid-September to the first weekend in October, drawing over 6 million visitors each year.
