Iran's parliament is called the Majlis (Islamic Consultative Assembly or Majlis-e Shura-ye Eslami). Majlis is an Arabic term meaning 'a place where people sit' used in many Islamic countries. Lok Sabha and House of Commons are Indian and British respectively, while 'People's Assembly of Iran' is not the official name.
