Dzongkha is the national and official language of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Assamese is spoken in the neighboring Indian state of Assam, Khmer is the language of Cambodia, and Chinese is the primary language of China. Dzongkha belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family and is central to Bhutanese cultural identity.
