About 97% of Earth's water is found in the oceans. The remaining 3% is freshwater, with most of that locked in glaciers and ice caps (around 2%), leaving less than 1% in lakes, rivers, groundwater, and atmospheric moisture combined. This makes oceans the dominant reservoir of water on our planet.
