Venus is the planet that comes closest to Earth during its orbital path, approaching at a distance of about 38 million kilometers at its nearest point (inferior conjunction). While Mercury is closer to the Sun on average, Venus's orbital geometry brings it nearer to Earth than any other planet. Mars and Jupiter have much larger minimum distances from Earth.
