Killed spirits is zinc chloride (ZnCl2), named so because it 'kills' (dissolves) metals and is highly corrosive. It's used as a flux for soldering, in wood preservation, and in textile processing. Titanium chloride, ferric chloride, and lead sulfate are different compounds with different uses.
