What does the term 'lie of necessity' (line 9) refer to?

            The controversy lies unsolved whether lying would ever
            be cogent. Many strive that lying is symbolic of fall of
            human conduct. Many critics of ‘lying’ believe there is no
            consistency between lying and principles of justice and
(5)        right. But some believe that life sometimes passes through
            such great crisis, when in ‘the healing touch of the
            emergency lie’ becomes a necessity. At that moment it
            becomes important to deviate from the rules of conduct.
            Such a thing is categorized as “lie of necessity”.
(10)      In the modern world where selfish motives stand at the
            citadel, the duty of truthfulness is mutilated. The soaring
            temptations hinder the divine light of truth. But it is universally
            accepted that truth can penetrate any cloud to disperse
            darkness. So an honest attempt of truth should be made.
(15)       Undoubtedly, our primitive standards also project
            truthfulness as a duty and ‘lying’ as a sin. But there are
            evidences which show that personal interests and motives
            were such “impulsive moments” that took men away from
            conforming to the right standards. Indians habitually use
(20)      falsehood without any clear reason. They discourage using
            truth even when it could be an advantage. They believe
            killing of a child in womb as a sin as great as killing a
            woman. Then why are so many female foeticides taking
           place?
