Fear of being contaminated with dirt or germs

Mysophobia (also called verminophobia or germophobia) is the abnormal fear of germs, dirt, or contamination. From Greek 'mysos' (uncleanness/dirt). It often manifests as excessive cleaning, hand-washing, or avoidance of perceived contaminated objects. Rectophobia is fear of rectums, Atephobia is fear of ruin, and Nostophobia is fear of returning home.
