New Zealand was the first self-governing country to grant women the right to vote in 1893. Australia granted voting rights to women in 1902 (but Aboriginal women couldn't vote until 1962), while the UK granted partial rights in 1918 and full rights in 1928. France granted women's suffrage in 1944.
