Ostriches have the largest eyes of any land animal, with each eye measuring about 5 cm in diameter - larger than their brain. This adaptation helps them detect predators from far distances on the open savanna. Eagles, owls, and parrots have relatively large eyes for their size, but none exceed the ostrich's eye-to-brain ratio.
