The Khasi tribe of Meghalaya practices a matrilineal system of inheritance where property passes through the female line. Specifically, among the Khasis, the youngest daughter (known as 'khatduh') inherits the ancestral property. This custom is known as 'matriliny' and is one of the few remaining matrilineal societies in India. The Toda, Khasa, and Bhil tribes follow different inheritance patterns.
