Canberra was purpose-built as Australia's capital in 1913 to resolve the rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne. The distractors are major Australian cities but NOT capitals: Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide are all state capitals, not the national capital. Canberra was chosen as a compromise location between Sydney and Melbourne.
