Xerophytes (plants adapted to dry conditions) show the most advanced morphological and physiological adaptations including reduced leaves, thick cuticles, sunken stomata, extensive root systems, and CAM photosynthesis. While hydrophytes and halophytes also have adaptations, xerophytic adaptations are most diverse and specialized.
