The Buxa tribe, primarily inhabiting the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh near the Nepal border, traditionally worships 'Gram Devi' (Village Goddess) as their principal deity. This tribal community has strong animistic traditions and venerates village spirits as protectors of their community. The Raji tribe worships nature deities, Jaunsari practices Hindu rituals mixed with tribal customs, and Mahigir, being a fishing community, has different religious practices focused on water deities.
