Bangladesh is the world's largest producer of jute, a fibrous plant used to make burlap, hessian, and gunny cloth. The country's warm, humid climate and fertile soil provide ideal growing conditions. India is the second-largest producer, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka have much smaller jute industries.
