Bana was the court poet of Emperor Harsha (7th century CE) and composed two major works: Kadambari (a romantic novel) and Harshacharita (a biography of Harsha). Both are important Sanskrit texts representing different literary genres. Rajatarangini was written by Kalhana, and Meghaduta by Kalidasa, not Bana.
