Anu Malik is the only person who is exclusively a music composer/film director in the Bollywood industry and not also a National Award-winning classical/experimental composer. A.R. Rahman, Satyajit Ray, and Ilayaraaja have all received National Awards and are known for their more serious/classical compositions, whereas Anu Malik is primarily a commercial Bollywood composer.
