Who invented thermometer?

Galileo Galilei invented the thermoscope around 1593, an early thermometer that showed temperature changes through expansion and contraction of air in a tube. While not as precise as later mercury thermometers developed by Fahrenheit and Celsius, Galileo's device demonstrated that temperature could be measured. His thermoscope was the first instrument capable of detecting temperature differences, establishing the principle behind all thermometers.
