The Dronacharya Award, instituted in 1985, is India's highest honor for outstanding coaches who have produced medal-winning athletes over a sustained period. Named after Drona, the legendary guru from the Mahabharata who taught archery to the Pandavas and Kauravas, it recognizes coaches across all sports disciplines. Recipients receive a cash prize, bronze statuette, and certificate from the Government of India.
