The Challenger Deep is the deepest known point in Earth's oceans, located at the southern end of the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean. Its maximum depth is approximately 10,928 meters (35,856 feet) below sea level. This extreme depth creates crushing pressure and unique conditions that have only been reached by a few crewed and uncrewed expeditions since its discovery in 1875.
