In the Great Himalayan range, glaciers are the primary agents of denudation. The high altitude and presence of numerous glaciers (such as Gangotri, Yamunotri, Siachen) mean that glacial erosion and deposition dominate the landscape modification. While rivers are significant erosional agents, glaciers are particularly important in the higher reaches of the Himalayas where they carve out U-shaped valleys and cirques.
