Monazite sand is the primary commercial source of thorium, containing thorium phosphate along with rare earth elements. Ilmenite is primarily titanium ore, pitchblende (uraninite) is uranium ore, and galena is lead sulfide (PbS). Monazite deposits are found in beach sands and certain rock formations.
