Dantidurga (also known as Dantivarman) was indeed the founder of the Rashtrakuta empire in the Deccan region around 753 CE. He overthrew the Chalukyas of Badami and established the Rashtrakuta supremacy. The Rashtrakutas were a major power that ruled from Manyakheta and were great patrons of art and architecture, as seen at Ellora.
