Sound waves are mechanical waves that require a material medium (solid, liquid, or gas) for propagation and involve particle vibration. Radar waves, gamma rays, and X-rays are all electromagnetic waves that can travel through vacuum. Sound is fundamentally different as it cannot propagate through empty space and is not part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
