Panna Lal Ghosh (1911-1960) was a legendary flautist and one of the first to bring the flute to prominence as a classical solo instrument in Hindustani music. Before him, the flute was primarily an accompanying instrument. He was not associated with sitar, sarod, or santoor; those instruments are associated with other maestros like Ravi Shankar (sitar), Ali Akbar Khan (sarod), and Shivkumar Sharma (santoor).
