Due to Earth's axial tilt of 23.5°, each pole experiences extreme seasonal variations in daylight. During summer months, each pole has continuous daylight for approximately six months (roughly from the equinox to solstice and back). Conversely, each pole experiences six months of continuous darkness during its winter season.
