"The Republic" is Plato's seminal Socratic dialogue exploring justice, the ideal state, and the philosopher-king. Written around 375 BC, it's one of the most influential works in political philosophy. Marx and Engels wrote much later (19th century), while Freud developed psychoanalysis.
