“Vermi” means worms. So, chemicals, birds and insects cannot do vermicomposting.
Vermicomposting is the process of composting by utilising various species of worms, usually red wigglers and earthworms, to create a heterogeneous mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste.
Secretions in the intestinal tracts of earthworms, along with soil passing through the earthworms, makes nutrients more concentrated and available for plant uptake, including micronutrients.
