Lucknow is historically called the City of Nawabs because it was the seat of the Nawabs of Awadh who ruled from the 18th to 19th centuries. The city is renowned for its refined culture, cuisine (Awadhi cuisine), and Urdu poetry. Bhopal is also a city of nawabs but less prominently known by this title. Agra is known for the Taj Mahal, and Hyderabad has its own Nizam rulers.
